BeCareers brings greater depth to first-stage recruitment

A laptop displaying job search results on a wooden desk in a UK home, alongside a printed CV, pen, notebook, and cup of tea, illuminated by soft natural morning light.

A busy recruitment team does more than read applications. It interprets experience, clarifies requirements, follows up on missing information and decides which candidates deserve a deeper conversation. As application volumes grow, it becomes harder to give everyone that attention.
That is the part of recruitment BeCareers addresses. After more than a year of development, the screening platform is operational. Now we’re focused on introducing it to employers and recruitment organisations that need more capacity at the first stage, with useful evidence for their teams to review.

From a CV to a conversation about the role

The employer defines the essential requirements, desirable experience and core questions for each vacancy. BeCareers parses the applicant’s CV, reading and organising its information against those criteria, then identifies details that need clarification.

The screening agent uses that context to ask follow-up questions. Applicants are considered against the same core requirements, with room to explain the individual experience behind their application.

What interests us about this approach is the detail it can bring into view. A familiar job title may cover very different responsibilities. A qualification may be listed without its current status. Someone may have relevant experience but leave the practical requirements of the new role unanswered.

The distinction between a claim and useful context

Take an illustrative HGV applicant whose CV shows several years driving rigid vehicles. The vacancy requires articulated vehicle experience. A screening conversation can establish whether the applicant holds the relevant licence category, when they obtained it and what experience followed.

That gives a recruiter something more specific to assess than a broad description of driving experience. It can also identify a useful question for the next interview. The employer still needs to verify qualifications and explore competence through its usual checks.

Information the recruitment team can work with

Each completed screening produces a full transcript and a structured summary in the employer dashboard. Recruiters can review responses against the role criteria, compare candidates side by side, share information with colleagues and export results for their recruitment workflow.

The practical value lies in that connection between the requirement, the answer and the next question. A summary helps the team navigate applications; the transcript provides the context. Recruiters can then decide where further discussion is needed.

An additional capability within your existing process

BeCareers can be embedded on an existing careers website through a JavaScript widget, using the organisation’s branding and domain. Applicants submit their CV and begin screening within that experience. An employer or agency can therefore explore it alongside its current website and applicant tracking system.

Conversations typically take around five minutes and can happen when the applicant is available, including outside office hours. Support for more than 100 languages allows candidates to respond in their preferred supported language, while the recruitment team receives transcripts and summaries in English.
For roles where language ability matters, that requirement remains part of the employer’s assessment. The purpose is to gather relevant information while giving applicants a practical way to take part.

A commercial opportunity for recruitment agencies

For agencies, the value extends beyond processing a single vacancy. Consultants manage competing demands across roles, candidates and clients. Collecting first-stage information before a consultant reviews an application frees up capacity for client discussions and detailed candidate conversations.

A transcript and summary can also support a consultant’s recommendation to a client. The agency retains the judgement and relationship, with a clearer record to explain why a candidate is worth considering.

Agency groups, job boards and recruitment software providers can discuss offering BeCareers under their own branding through a partnership. This provides a route to add screening capability to an existing service, with scope and rollout agreed around the organisation’s requirements.

A working product that organisations can evaluate

BeCareers is UK-hosted and works with the CV and information candidates provide during screening. It does not search their social media to construct a profile. The employer controls the role criteria and remains responsible for progression and hiring decisions.

We want prospective customers to evaluate the service against their actual recruitment process. A useful demonstration should show how questions are generated, what the applicant sees and whether the resulting information helps a recruiter decide what to do next.

If an organisation proceeds to a pilot, measures such as screening completion, recruiter review time, and the usefulness of the summaries can help assess fit. Those are more meaningful than promising the same result for every employer.

Human Advertising supports BeCareers’ business management and growth, alongside the specialist expertise behind it. We invite employers, HR teams, and recruitment businesses to bring a vacancy, explain their workflow, and see the platform in action.
